Rules
- All exhibits must be the work of the exhibitor.
- All needlework must include a swatch of fabric, yarn or floss used in the entry. If not included, item will be disqualified.
- All articles may be shown only twice before being disqualified.
- Judges decision is final.
- No straight pins in work.
- Judges will be instructed by the Convenors to disqualify all soiled, defaced or old work.
- In case of no competition, the prize will be withheld unless the exhibit is worthy.
- New exhibitor or anyone who did not show in Class 29 in 2024 or 2025, mark “NEW EXHIBITOR” on the front of entry tag.
- All other rules of Homecraft Division apply.

Section: Quilting
Rules:
- All quilts must be double bed size, at least 72″ x 90″, unless otherwise stated.
- All quilts must be hand-quilted, unless otherwise stated.
- If possible, label quilt with name of design for spectator benefit.
- Remember: Quilts must include some swatches of fabric used in your entry.

Hand Quilting Competition
Rules:
- Please review the General Competition Rules on page 7.
- The quilt must be solely made and hand quilted by the exhibitor and exhibited and judged at a local Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS) Fair to be eligible for this competition.
- Quilts to be measured on the perimeter. Total perimeter measurement to be a minimum of 324 inches. All 4 sides must be measured to determine the perimeter measurement.
- The quilting must be through all 3 layers (top, batting and back) and not be mounted on a frame. The quilt may have a sleeve attached to the back for the purpose of hanging the quilt.
- The winning OAAS Hand Quilt will not be eligible to compete in any future OAAS Fair, District and/or Provincial competitions.
- It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to give credit to the original designer of the quilt pattern based on copyright rules.
District Competition:
- Each local Fair is entitled to send their Best of Show of all eligible hand quilts to the District competition.
- Rules apply regarding quilts that have won at more than one Fair.
- The OAAS will award a ribbon to exhibitors of winning hand quilts at each District competition.
Provincial Competition:
- A $500 Grand Prize and rosette will be awarded.
- A $100 Reserve Grand Prize will be awarded.
- The exhibitor will retain ownership of the quilt.

- 55 – Workmanship
- 30 – Quilting
- 10 – Borders
- 15 – Binding and picots
Machine Quilting Competition
Rules:
- Please review the General Competition Rules on page 7.
- The quilt must be solely made and machine quilted by the exhibitor and exhibited and judged at a local Ontario Association of Agriculture.

- The quilting must be through all 3 layers (top, batting and back) and not be mounted on a frame.
- The winning OAAS Machine Quilt will not be eligible to compete in any future OAAS Fair, District and/or Provincial competitions.

- The use of domestic, mid arm/or long arm equipment is permitted on hand or computer guided machine entries.
Provincial Competition:
- All quilts entered in the competition must be machine quilted.

- The exhibitor will retain ownership of the quilt.
